Infant Room at Ohana School of Early Learning

The Infant Room at Ohana School of Early Learning provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where infants can explore and grow throughout their day. Our approach supports early development through sensory experiences, discovery play, and individualized care.

A Learning Environment Designed for Growth

Infants learn through their five senses and through play-based exploration. Our teachers create engaging experiences using:

  • Language & Movement
  • Music & Books
  • Water & Art Activities
  • Dramatic Play Materials

Each week, teachers design a customized curriculum based on the infants’ developmental needs and interests. Families receive daily reports at drop-off and pick-up, keeping them informed about their child’s experiences.

A Safe and Clean Space for Infants

To maintain a clean environment for our crawling infants, we enforce a “shoeless” policy in the infant room.

  • All adults must remove their shoes before entering.
  • Socks are allowed, and slippers are provided for those with bare feet.

Individualized Infant Feeding

Feeding is an essential part of an infant’s social-emotional and physical development.

  • All infants are held while bottle-feeding to promote nurturing contact.
  • Breastfeeding mothers are welcome to relax and feed their infants in a comfortable space.
  • Feeding plans are tailored to the child’s developmental needs, cues, and family preferences.
  • Older infants are encouraged to develop independence during mealtimes, with plastic bibs provided for easy cleanup.
  • Families can review menus and select appropriate foods for their infant.

Safe and Supportive Sleep Practices

Sleeping is both a physical and emotional process, and our teachers carefully observe each child’s sleep cues.

  • Infants are soothed to sleep through holding, rocking, singing, and gentle crib rocking.
  • All infants sleep only in cribs, following American Academy of Pediatrics Safe Sleep Guidelines.

Building Strong Family Partnerships

We believe in fostering strong relationships with both children and their families.

  • Each morning, we encourage parents to share updates about their child’s night so we can better meet their needs.
  • At pick-up, teachers provide insights into the child’s day and a detailed daily report, including:
    • Feeding times
    • Nap schedules
    • Diapering details
    • Play activities

At Ohana School of Early Learning, we are committed to creating a loving, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment for your infant. We look forward to partnering with you on this exciting journey!
